There is a great Farmers' Market almost every day in or around Bordeaux. My favorites are the ones in Libourne, Sainte Foye la Grande and Issigeac. But there are many others, each one with its own unique flair; like the one in Rouillac on the 27th of every month. They even sell cattle there! Because we are located between the ocean and the Dordogne, we do enjoy both the best seafood and the most succulent meats. Medoc lamb, duck and foie gras are our local specialties.

Some of my guests asked once to just tour the farmers' markets with me. We called that week "Our Farmers' Market Marathon". We had such a great time going to a different market every day and using the produce we bought for our picnics in the vineyards or by the river... Some days we got lazy and enjoyed lunch in some of my favorite restaurants instead. Memories...

At the market (or at the farm), you and I will select what is the most appealing to us according to your taste. Cheese? Oysters? Fresh baguettes? Delicious éclairs? All of the above? I make it a point to only use organic produce in my cooking!
